Absolutely useless mechanics in this game.Developed by Destructive Creations, the studio behind games like Hatred and Ancestors Legacy, War Mongrels is an isometric real-time tactics game that offers a rather unique perspective on World War II. No dog would check out the sausage if he is sitting next to a guard. I think it worked twice in the entire game and that's it. Poison sausages (Joachim) don't work on dogs. I have no idea how is that suppose to work but it does and you die. Sometimes when you're on the same level as soldiers, they start shooting at you through fences, cars and other obstacles even if they don't see you. That kind of defies purpose of this game. It doesn't work every time, but I succeeded many times over after few saves and reloads. The cheating solution to some scenarios are to shoot someone, run to cover, shoot again at the soldiers approaching, run again etc. I climbed up with Lead, stood directly behind them and shot everyone with a gun. The remaining grouped together and as they couldn't get down (another bug) they just followed the character. For example in the sorrow mission (11), I've shot too many soldiers with Lucas and ran away to the ground. This can be exploited to a very stupid scenarios. If you kill too much of them, they became alarmed and aware where your main character no matter if they are on the second floor and you are on the ground and invisible. Sometimes they see you so they chase the characters and half of them map come running so you die in seconds. If you get few soldiers in a group and kill one of them from a far with a rifle\gun, it's only logical they will change their stand, but it never happened. I'll list several scenarios which worked for me, but really shouldn't have. There are a variety of small bugs like keys missing, or characters get stuck. Aside from first and last missions I haven't encountered a game breaking bugs, but still it felt bad not to be able to save after a certain point of the story. Balancing definitely required, but it was fun. It was still fun to do, but I have no idea how did the developers intended us to finish the missions.

I've cleared entire maps using Manfred in his SS uniform and Greta using her silencer.

Despite excellent missions, characters appear to be sometimes overpowered (OP) and not too balanced.

It didn't sit well with me knowing a bit about that part of the history, describing them as monsters similar to Nazis. Nobody was an angel back then, but historically speaking they were the savors and they are the ones who defeated the Germans. Say what you want, but the Soviets were the good guys during the WW2. I dare to say it even more fun than final missions of D3 and ST, which require precision timing for the most part (ST especially). At first glance the maps overwhelm you, but once you begin taking the enemies one by one it opens up. Graphics is excellent throughout the game. The good: - Missions are really good looking and diverse. I've completed the game and here are my final impressions. You gotta start somewhere.įor me, and i buy games a lot, i am not gonna buy this for 30ish+$ like the game is good, but not that good. Its not gonna be thousands perhaps, but hundreds for sure. You picked genre that is not that popular these days, and a topic that is controversial, so in my opinion you should decrease the price, i think it would increase the buy rate by a bunch. Now we have this, probably the best out of the three, but the price is overshot, like this studio is small, not really known that well, controversy in the past, bad marketing, like you need to gain playerbase, and you need to gain it by high quality available to all sorts of players. I played the first game about the psychopath, looked cool, interesting concept, few hours of fun, then Ancestors came, played that one as well, was too linear, lack of content or progression system discouraged me to play more than 100hrs. It looks really good, the concept of the story is really likable, and controversial for snowflakes which i dig as well. I really like the game, it has that Commandos feeling in my opinion, i was really hyped about it when i first saw it few weeks ago, then i checked the prices and i got discouraged to buy it immediately, like this studio and the game is nowhere near the role to set price this high, the game should cost 20$ max.
